Our founder Luis Santos grew up in a surfing home, discovering the waves along his coast. Back then, surfing wasn’t common in Huatulco. Boards were hard to come by, and most of the best waves were (and still are) located on private land. Bit by bit, the coastline was mapped out, and eventually the word began to spread.
Thanks to our rugged geography, access to the waves has remained limited. This has helped protect the natural habitats—mangroves, estuaries, and freshwater flows that keep our precious sandbars alive and healthy.
Now, in 2025, the Toro herd is back. With his brothers stepping up, the family continues the local guiding legacy. This season, we’re limiting group sizes to prioritize quality over quantity, only certified guides will be on hand.
We’re also taking part in organizing the local surf scene. With the creation of a local surf association, the certified surf guides of Huatulco are working to build a model that’s sustainable, legal, and community driven.  Making sure our natural resources are respected.
